Who was the oldest rookie? (1937)

Bill McKechnie began his 8th and last season as manager for the Boston Bees in 1937. He managed to improve slightly finishing above .500 with a 79-73 record. Good enough to improve from sixth place the year before to fifth. They were only 16 games behind.

The Bees (now the Atlanta Braves) picked up right handed pitcher Jim Turner for $1,000. At 33, he was the oldest rookie in the Majors. He ended the season 20-11. He led the league in ERA with 2.38.
